“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to bring good news to the poor.” — Luke 4:18
This Sunday, October 18, we celebrate the Feast of St. Luke the Evangelist, whose Gospel proclaims the good news of Jesus Christ and reminds us of God’s deep compassion for the poor, the hurting, the forgotten, and those longing for hope. There’s something powerful about these words Jesus speaks. They reveal the heart of His ministry: to proclaim freedom for the captive, healing for the brokenhearted, sight for the blind, and good news to those who need it most. And that same good news speaks to us today. God knows our stories, our struggles, our failures, and our fears. He sees us fully, loves us completely, and meets us with a grace we could never earn. He is not surprised by your story. He is not overwhelmed by your circumstances. And you are never beyond the reach of His love. Through Jesus, our past does not have the final word. Our failures do not define us. In Christ, there is forgiveness, freedom, and new life.
As Romans 8:1 reminds us, “There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” This is the good news St. Luke proclaims: hope for the hurting, freedom through Christ, and grace for every season of life. Whatever you’re carrying into this week, you don’t have to carry it alone. Jesus invites us to come as we are and discover again the hope found in Him.
Come worship with us. Come find encouragement. Come hear again the good news of Jesus—the One who brings light into darkness, freedom into bondage, and hope to the weary. We’d love to worship with you as we celebrate St. Luke and the life-changing good news of Jesus Christ.
