After Pentecost, the Spirit is still at work. This Sunday, we hear God's promise to Jacob: "You shall no longer be called Jacob, but Israel, for you have striven with God and with humans, and have prevailed." - Genesis 32:28
In Ordinary Time, we discover that God's work of transformation didn't end at Pentecost - it continues in us. Like Jacob, we are shaped through life's joys and struggles, and God meets us with grace that renews, restores, and calls us into a deeper identity. We are not defined by where we have been, but by the God who journeys with us and gives us a new name.
As we celebrate Heritage Sunday, we give thanks for the many cultures, stories, and traditions that enrich our life together. Each heritage reflects God's faithfulness across generations, and together our diversity bears witness to the breadth of God's love and the unity we share in Christ.
