Fourth Sunday of Easter
EVERYONE’S INVITED to share to share our Service of Holy Eucharist this Sunday, May 8!
The overarching theme this Sunday is love. It’s Mother’s Day, and we’ll be celebrating together the love of mothers and ours for them. We’re blessed to have the mother and daughter tandem, Laura and Aisling, sharing First and Second Readings; and Dinah leading us in a Mother’s Day Prayer and Litany for the Prayers of the People. Also, at the end of the Service, look for a special gift for all the ladies present. It’s also the Fourth Sunday of Easter: Good Shepherd Sunday. Our Gospel is taken from John 10, and our Psalm is the beloved Psalm 23. Our Sermon will reflect on what we learn of God’s love from both. After the Proclamation of the Word, we’re most blessed to share Holy Communion together, physically or spiritually, feeding by faith with thanksgiving on the One who laid down his life for us, so that we may have his life within us always. Beginning with the Eucharistic Prayer 5, our focus is again on love - our Lord’s poured out for and through us. We receive Our Lord’s body broken and blood outpoured, that we may be his Body in the world, redeemed by his blood. When our Liturgy ends, the service begins, with a “Sending” forth into the world to love all the fellow-members of our Lord’s flock, spreading, in word and in deed, the Good News of our Lord’s Risen Life.
