Fourth Sunday after Epiphany

It’s our Patronal Festival, the Feast of the Conversion of St. Paul, and the day of our Annual Meeting of Parishioners. We’re exploring the story of how Jesus’ light opened St. Paul's heart and mind to God's grace - our Parish's Vision for us and for all people! Our Service throughout expresses the themes of grace, love, and light – received, celebrated, and shared. We’re blessed to have Norman in-person to assist and preach; recordings of our Choir to lead us in our Hymns and sing an Offertory Anthem about our Lord’s Amazing Grace, which frees us from our chains; and recordings of Doreen and Dinah sharing our Readings from Holy Scripture, and Dinah again, leading us in the Prayers of the People. These Prayers we’re sharing include a special Litany for the Feast of the Conversion of St. Paul, a Prayer for our Annual Meeting and our Parish Prayer, and a beautiful Prayer in Response to COVID-19 penned by Margaret Trim, the Lay Preacher at St. Paul’s Anglican Church in West Vancouver.

Also look for St. Paul to feature in the Affirmation of Faith we’re sharing, which is taken from Philippians 2:6-11. Our Patron wrote in 1 Corinthians 10:17, “We who are many are one body, for we all partake of the one bread.” And so, it is most fitting that, celebrating his Feast, just before we hold our Annual Meeting, we unite to Communion together, spiritually and (for some of us) physically (by picking up Reserved Sacrament mid-week from just inside the main doors), all of us feeding on our Lord by faith with thanksgiving. When our Liturgy ends, the service begins, as we go forth united in our mission of joining the Apostle Paul in pouring out ourselves in reckless abandon to spread the light of Our Lord’s amazing grace and limitless love in the world through all we say and all we do.
