The Reign of Christ

It’s the Feast of the Reign of Christ, the last Sunday and climax of the Season of Pentecost, and the last Sunday of the Church Year! Every year on this day, we remember how our Lord Jesus is exalted and reigns on high at the Father’s Right Hand; and we also remember how his reign is a reign of love, and that he calls us to play a part in spreading his loving rule. Our Service reflects the Reign of Christ theme throughout, in our Prayers, Music, Readings from Holy Scripture, and Guest Speakers’ Presentation. Norman is assisting; our Virtual Choir is leading our singing; John L. and Nicola are sharing our First and Second Readings from Holy Scripture via video; and Dinah is leading the Prayers of the People, which include a Prayer in Response to COVID-19 from the Methodist Church in Mexico.

As we do each year at this Service, we’re help us focus on how we can help spread Our Lord's Kingdom of love by inviting someone involved in Outreach in our City to come and address us. This year, we're delighted to welcome Denise Meade and Christopher Kavanagh from the Calgary Drop-In and Rehab Centre, who'll be sharing with us about this outstanding Ministry, which it's been our great privilege to support financially and by having one of our members (Rachael) on staff!

We’re experiencing the riches of both Word and Sacrament, as we’re ending our time of Worship – and the Church Year – by sharing Communion together, spiritually or physically (in the Sanctuary, or with the Reserved Sacrament we’ve picked up from the Office Monday to Friday between 9 and noon, or by appointment).

Today’s Service of Holy Eucharist will be livestreamed on our main Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/stpaulscalgary) at 9:30 am. Following the service, the video will be posted on our YouTube Channel, and a link to the service will be added here. To watch this service in full screen mode, please click on the “Watch on YouTube” button in the lower left-hand corner of the video. Please download the Order of Service in the Sermon Notes above if you would like to follow along. If you are sharing this Service online and don’t have Reserved Sacrament, you are invited to say the Prayer for Communion for those receiving Spiritual Communion also available above.
