It’s a very special Sunday at St. Paul’s! We’re having our Triple C Service (our monthly Christ-centred, Creative Celebration) a week early, so that we can have a Celtic Service, in honour of the Feasts of St. David (Mar. 1) and St. Patrick (Mar. 17). Look for a Celtic Liturgy throughout, from sources including Iona and the Church of Ireland; prayers and music (including the Opening Hymn, Call to Worship, and Children’s Time song) based on St. Patrick’s Breastplate; Irish lyrics and tunes in our Gradual Hymn “Be Thou My Vision and Offertory Hymn “I Heard the Voice of Jesus Say” (the latter as an Instrumental played on the fiddle and penny whistle); a Celtic Litany and a Prayer in Response to COVID-19 written by the Primate of Ireland, the Most Rev’d Michael Jackson (courtesy of Brian and Irene Dean). To enrich our worship, we have Norman assisting and preaching; Murray on tape sharing our First Reading; Doreen on tape leading our Prayers; and our Choir on tape leading our Congregational singing. We’re using, for the first time in our Sunday worship, one of the Alternative Collects authorized for use by the National Church. We’re listening to The Message translation for our First Reading, and J. B. Phillips’ translation for our Gospel. And we’re sharing Spiritual Communion together, in which we’re feeding by faith with thanksgiving on the One who allowed his life to fall into the earth, as a grain of wheat, so that he might be the Bread of life for us all. Then, as our Liturgy ends, the service begins: we go in peace to love and serve the Lord, sharing Good News of this love in all we say and do.
