Third Sunday in Lent

Today is the Third Sunday in Lent, and also the first Sunday after St. David’s Day (Mar. 1). We’re celebrating the latter with 3 congregational Hymns with Welsh tunes led by our Choir (including the great “Guide Me, O Thou Great Jehovah”), plus a Welsh Offertory Hymn played on the organ of All Saints’ Church in Oystermouth, Swansea, Wales. In the Prayers of the People, Murray is also leading us in “Meditative Intercessions in Response to COVID-19” from the Church in Wales. We’re continuing our Lenten Order of Service (e.g., having the Trisagion and Agnus Dei as part of our Liturgy). Stacy on tape is sharing the Lectionary’s First Reading for this day, Exodus 20, which sets forth the Ten Commandments. I'm looking at these Commandments and our Gospel from John 2 in the Sermon, how they encourage us to be a people of passion at St. Paul’s – those who are marked by a passion for God that translates into a passion for people. We’re blessed to share Spiritual Communion together, in which we feed by faith with thanksgiving on the One whose passion for us moves him to share his life with us, whatever the cost. Then, our Liturgy ends, and the service begins, as we go in peace to love and serve the Lord, sharing Good News of God’s passion for the world in all we say and do.

Today’s Service of Holy Eucharist will be livestreamed on our main Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/stpaulscalgary) at 9:30 am. Following the service, the video will be posted on our YouTube Channel, and a link to the service will be added here. Please download the Order of Service if you would like to follow along.
