Second Sunday of Advent

Today is the Second Sunday Advent, which has the focus of peace. Our Children’s Time and Sermon explore how we can know an inner peace from relationship of love with God that no storms can destroy. Our Archbishop mentioned in last week’s video introduction to Advent that as the days grow darker, we light more and more Advent Candles to proclaim silently the Good News that Jesus is the Light of the world, and so this Sunday we’re lighting 2 candles in the Advent Wreath. Our “Virtual Choir’ is leading us in our 2 congregational Hymns; and we’ve recordings of Dinah for both the First Reading and the Prayers of the People. In those Prayers, we’re sharing a Prayer in Response to COVID-19 from Lichfield Cathedral. And we’re receiving in our hearts with thanksgiving the One who is our peace, sharing together through Spiritual Communion a foretaste of the Heavenly Banquet we await.

Today’s Service of Holy Eucharist will be livestreamed on our main Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/stpaulscalgary) at 9:30 am and was uploaded to YouTube following the service. Please download the Order of Service if you would like to follow along.
