Remembrance Sunday

In this the 75th anniversary year of the end of World War II, we’re gathering with hearts filled with gratitude to remember the sacrifices of so many that have won our freedom and peace! The price of freedom isn’t free, and this Sunday we will remember its cost. Our Service has "The Act of Remembrance," which includes naming those connected to our Parish family who have died while serving in the Armed Forces; and listening to the Last Post, Silence, Rouse, and Lament from the Ceremony in Ottawa that marked the 75th Anniversary of the end of the War. Our Screens' backgrounds are pictures by the youth of our country who've participated in the Legion's annual poster contests. And our focus throughout, in our Hymns, Readings from Holy Scripture, Homily, and Prayers of the People is taking the torch we’ve been handed and holding it high as we engage in the sacred task of peacemaking in our time and place. We shall also remember the Sacrifice of our Lord and Saviour, who laid down his life so that we may live, as we share Holy Communion together, physically or spiritually.

Today’s Service of Holy Eucharist was livestreamed on our main Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/stpaulscalgary) at 9:30 am and is now available to view here. Please download the Order of Service if you would like to follow along.
