Ascension Sunday: 7th Sunday of Easter

Today we celebrate Ascension Sunday, exploring together the awesomeness of what Our Lord's Ascension forty days after Easter to Heaven to be seated at the Father's Right Hand means for him and for us! As it’s the fourth Sunday of the month, this is a Triple C Service: a “Christ-centred, Creative, Celebration”. The Service includes a special Ascension Sunday Litany and Affirmation of Faith, plus J. B. Phillips’ Translation of the Bible to be used for our passages from Holy Scripture. It’s also Jerusalem Sunday, the day on which the Anglican Church of Canada prays especially for the spreading of God’s Mission through the Diocese of Jerusalem. In our Prayer times, we’ll watch a video of the Holy Land in which the Bishop of Jerusalem offers up a prayer penned by our former Primate, the Most Reverend Fred Hiltz. We’ll be blessed to have our Choir lead us in our Hymns. And to mark “Thy Kingdom Come,” the worldwide prayer initiative from Ascension Day through to Pentecost, we’ll watch a video of this year’s theme song performed by recording artist Pete James.

The Order of Service will be available in its usual place below the video under the Sermon Notes.
